A fortnight ago my family and I planned a day trip to see Windsor Castle, which none of us had seen before. I knew that there would be a lot of walking and standing around and that after a while my left leg would start to be painful. I therefore took the precaution of taking a pair of M&S Firm Support tights with me, though on the first stage of the journey I was bare-legged in shorts. I do not know what is wrong with the leg - and neither does my doctor, but the calf gets painful after a period of standing around or slow walking. Support tights do help with the problem, but do not get rid of it altogether.

On our way to Windsor, we planned to stop in Bicester Retail Village to break the journey and to make a quick foray to buy clothes at one of the manufacturers' outlet stores. There had been a fatal shooting on the M40 motorway the previous day, and that road was still closed for investigations. We reached Bicester without incident, having taken a detour via Stratford upon Avon and Banbury so that the journey took twice as long as it would normally have done.
Having wandered round a few shops at Bicester, my leg was aching badly, and my family could see that I was in pain. I went into a public toilet, which was fortunately very clean, and put on my tights. They are 20 denier in a skin tone colour called 'illusion' and have quite a sheen in the sunlight. Nothing was said by anyone in the family about my tights, though I am sure they all noticed. Relief from leg pain seems to be satisfactory (well, almost) as a reason for wearing tights.
After a picnic lunch we drove on to Windsor, parked in a long stay car park (£2.50 for 4 hours was much cheaper than I expected). We climbed up to the Castle entrance and had to join a long queue of sightseers, including a large party of Spaniards with a vocal guide carrying a large red and blue umbrella. We queued for half an hour or more, before making our tour of the historic castle and grounds.
The picture shows me in the castle grounds. The thing hanging around my neck is an audio guide receiver. In the picture the tights are rather more visible than I thought they would be. However not once did I catch anyone taking a second look, or even a first look at my legs.
Things were not so smooth as they seemed, however, because a few days after the visit, I was asked by my wife why I had worn tights at Windsor, because all the family thought it looked odd.
I explained that I had put tights on at Bicester because of my leg pain, but I don't think the explanation was accepted as totally convincing. Nevertheless the fact is that I would not have been wearing them if it had not been for the leg pain.

you look great geraden...I was in York 3 weeks ago...visited Pickering
Castle... not in shorts and tights....but dress pants and suntan tights. In
York one day I was seen be twwo men...I was sitting on a bench near the
Minster. ..and exposed my suntanned ancles. They had certainly not ever
seen a man in suntan tights. The both keep watching while passing and even
after they both looked back several times.
Good to hear from you again, Johs. I am glad you enjoyed your visit to
England. I have been to Pickering and York in the past, but I was not so
far as I recall wearing tights at the time.
I have been watching your site for a considerable time, and would like to
congratulate you for doing such a wonderful job. I am a 24 / 7 wearer and
do not feel dressed without tights on, although there are obviously
occassons when one cannot due to the ignorance of those around and their
biggotted views.
Firstly I to suffer leg pain which is similar to that as you describe, I
have found that It is assisted by wearing tights which could be perceived
as a lame excuse, but is actually enhanced by wearing shoes that have a
higher heel than convensional flat soled shoes, I have a number of pairs
that are what would have been called Cuban Heels sometime ago, and they
help me greatly.
In further response to the comments regarding smart Male clothes and Sun
Tan tights, I have just returned from a Short Holiday In Lincolnshire were
I wore tights (MINK) with long trousers all week, not smart trousers just
the lightweight Chino Style and deck shoes and no one noticed at all. But I
have to say that in Summer time you can get away with that quite easily,
but I much prefer the dress type trousers for formal work days with either
Black or Barely Black tights and shoes or ancle Boots which likewise do not
get a second glance. What Man would give a second look unless by appearing
to wear nothing you are attracting attention to yourself.
Thank you for your positive comments, CCG.
C.C.G.... What part of Lincolnshire did you go to.....I live in that
county...
In Reply to your Post Arcim, I was right on the Coast between Mablethorpe &
Skegness and spent allot of the week in Cleethorpes & Sutton. Beautiful
quiet Coast line and a very enjoyable week.
