I stay with Blog City because I think it is the best blogging service. They do not get everything right and there were certainly some traumas on the way as I migrated quickly from Version 4 to Version 5 (blog) and Version 6 (admin). owever on the whole HH
Having said all that, every so often Blog City does something really good. The latest good thing is an improvement to the statistics that they provide to blog owners. Now they provide more information, of more types and in more detail than ever before. I was very interested in the breakdown of hits by country.
Here is what it is showing me, based on the first 24 hours:
750 United States
68 United Kingdom
57 Turkey
55 Ukraine
38 Italy
37 Germany
36 Canada
28 Russian Federation
24 Finland
21 Brazil
19 France
14 China
12 Hungary
11 Netherlands
11 Japan
11 Argentina
10 Korea
10 Australia
9 New Zealand
9 Ireland
7 Slovakia
6 Romania
6 Portugal
5 Belgium
4 Sweden
4 Poland
4 Norway
4 Hong Kong
3 India
3 Denmark
3 Colombia
2 Philippines
2 Mexico
2 Malta
2 Bulgaria
2 Austria
1 Thailand
1 Macedonia
1 Spain
1 Czech Republic
1 Chile
1 Switzerland
A word of caution. I strongly believe that this information is based on the location of the ISP, not the location of the reader. Quite separate from anything to do with Blog City, I remember once doing a location check on my own IP address, and was surprised to find that it was in Washington DC. (I have never been to the USA in my life!) However I am with AOL - which explains everything.
So the number of hits from the USA reflects not the number of readers in the USA but rather the dominant position of the USA in the ISP market.

Well, it's a bit confusing in my case, as I am American, but I live in
England. So it may register that I read and post from Britain, although I
am not a native of these lands.
