In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

Silkies Summer

posted Friday, 27 July 2007

Geradenby Geraden

I had quite forgotten that, when I was staying with my friend Ash in Devon in April, I had ordered some Silkies tights. So it was a surprise when the parcel arrived on my doorstep recently. Among other things I had ordered two products that I had not tried before. I ordered some Ultra Soft Dimensions with lacy high cut panty for Ash, and some Summer Cooling Tights for myself.

Silkies Summer Cooling TightsThese Summer Cooling Tights are new this year and are advertised as having 'special yarns to help keep your legs 18° cool' as well as an 'anti microbial feature to help keep summer feet healthy'. On the other hand (foot?) they are 20 denier, though they are described somewhat illogically as 'ultra sheer'. In my book, 'ultra sheer' is 10 denier at the most. However, when worn, the tights look more like 10-15 denier than the stated 20 denier.

They come in one colour only, 'natural' – a beige colour that seems well suited to my (white British) complexion. I chose, not surprisingly, the XL size. Opening the packet, the legs look silky and there is a ribbed control top, which somehow does not look very cool. However instead of a solid gusset, there is a panel of white mesh sewn in (looking rather like the fabric of a hosiery wash bag in fact). The body seams are flat: The USA cannot do flat seams, but these tights are made in Korea. Actually I did not know that flat seam technology was available outside the top European factories, but you learn something new every day! The legs are fully boarded, and the toes invisibly reinforced.

The tights feel nice to put on and wear, and they offer a little compression. The fit is very good and the control top is snug, though not uncomfortably so. The fabric composition is nylon/spandex, but the proportions are not stated. They are quite shiny and if worn under trousers they do not cling. The stated retail price is £9.99, but they are available to Silkies account holders at £4.99.

Overall I would rate these as good tights, though they do not merit the £9.99 price tag. At £4.99 they are reasonable value for money because the quality seems to be above average. I cannot comment on their cooling properties as I have yet had the opportunity of wearing them in warm conditions.

Arcim - thanks for your comment. PP are good, and I am glad you like them. I have not tried the Sideria ones, though I did try the previous Perfectly Natural. The trouble for me is that PP come in only two sizes: Small/Medium and Medium/Large, which is no good for a chap as tall as myself. But they seem a good tip for those who do fit them.
