Returning to normal

This blog will be returning to normal over the next few days. It appears that no lasting damage has been done by the person who recently attacked a site that was linked to this one.

Other sites that were linked to this one have been warned. The have reported no untoward activity but have no doubt reviewed their security policies. All are happy for the links to be restored, except for one, whose wishes will be respected, and one other site which has not responded to e-mail.

When all is said and done, The attack was a fairly low grade affair, requiring no special knowledge and skills and was a nuisance rather than a threat. We do know the source of the attack, though (as with much that is spiteful and childish) the motivation remains obscure. The site concerned has taken measures to prevent and detect future attacks.
