I am not posting much about hosiery these days – my blogging time is taken up working on the layout, rather than on the content. This is fortunate, because I do not have much content in the pipeline. The First of March will see the publication of Mike and Olga's third Wonderful World of Welts, and that is about it!
I have put the hits chart back on the home page, and very gratifying it is too. Six months ago we were running at under 400 hits per day, but in the last six months there have been three big boosts to the number of hits. The first was in October last year when Harisnya wrote an article called Pantyhose for Men on Wikipedia. He kindly included a link to this site from there. That roughly doubled the daily hits from around 400 to 800 or 900.
The second was at the beginning of February, when – with the 'No nonsense' article – the blog came to the attention of the major hosiery companies. The hits went up to around 1,600. The latest occurred about a week ago, with the hits at around 3,000 per day since then. I think, though I cannot be sure, that the new look of the blog has contributed to this success. It now looks like what it always has been - a clean site. The previous dark background could have been ambiguous.
A big thank you to all my readers and supporters!

I much preferred the last layout. It was more like a website with different
areas for links and articles. Now it just seems like a diary of comments.
Geraden, have you thought about moving away from the blog format to a more
flexable traditional layout, you could even get a more memorable domain
name. even gereden.com or something? what ever you do, keep up the good
work, regards, mark
I have learned from working with some web page developers, that the way the
content is put on a page has a great deal to do with how a search engine
sees it. For example search engines can’t read a picture and many times
the text on a page is actually in a picture type format. With the new
software being used, it is more likely to be putting the text on the pages
in a better way for search engines to see. The large increase of hits is a
very positive indication of two things. One, people are finding this blog
better, for whatever reason, and two they are interested and searching for
the type of content that is on these pages. Does that mean our numbers are
growing?
Our numbers are growing; that seems certain. I doubt whether that has
affected the hit count very much, and certainly not so dramatically. I
think the cleaner look is more welcoming and I think that some people were
put off by the previous light text on dark background, which is a feature
commonly encountered on X rated sites.
The hit counter reached 400,000 on 27th March 2007. Thanks to you all for
your continued support!
The mystery about the recent large increase in the number of hits per day
has been solved.
