I am trying to get this blog the way I want it. I decided to go for a less cluttered look and feel. I have reduced the gutters from two to one, and used the space I had saved for page margins.

The basic layout seems more or less ok for now: I have had some good feedback from readers. The visitor count keeps going up, which is encouraging! I have put the hits chart back with the new colour scheme, and the results have amazed me.

I was sorry to lose the menu facility in the move to Version 5. The result of all of this is that my readers have lost easy access to a lot of things that were there before. Fear not – like Baldrick, I have a 'cunning plan'!

Rather than having the latest entry on the home page, I am planning to create a separate home page to contain news, links and information. The last 10 entries will still be accessible from the gutter.

I will also manage the headings and links on the blog – the headings need to be more striking, and the links need to be visible without hover. I need to find out how CSS works in this version of the admin interface. There is some tweaking to do with the previous individual entries.

For the convenience of my co-editors (and myself) I have created a new Blog entry template.
