In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

Participation - the life blood of the online community

posted Thursday, 20 April 2006

by Smoov

It was my intention to write something today to encourage greater participation by the readers of this blog. I was going to call it  'One year on - where are they now?', and mention the names of people who have commented on the entries to the blog from last year,  but who seem to have not been heard of since.

You might argue that if Geraden had wanted more participation he should have started a  forum, not a blog, but whatever the reasons that dictate what type of site someone creates, the fact is that both benefit greatly  from the feedback created by the visitors.

Anyway, in going back and looking at the entries from a year ago I soon found myself  reading articles that either I'd forgotten I had read, or that seemed completely new to me, and they were very interesting. I've been  aware of Geraden's presence in the online 'legwear' community for quite a long time, and he has always written informative, thought  provoking and intelligent stuff, which is why, I guess, this has become my favourite port of call when my thoughts do indeed turn to  legwear (pretty often, then).

I suppose I am as guilty as everyone else of arriving at my regular haunts, seeing that little new activity has transpired, and  moving on. But If we all did that all the time, there would be nothing new to read and think about, and interest would die away.

So,  my thought for the day is this: If there is not much new to read here, why not go back over the previous entries and have a look at those,  and if you feel inspired to respond to something you have read, go for it!

It's so important that those of us with 'unfashionable'(but otherwise completely harmless) interests have places like Geraden's blog where we can commune and share experiences and thoughts  and realise we are far from alone, and if sites like this come to the attention of the media, as is not unheard of, and they are seen  to be active, then that can lead to a considerable boost in public awareness and maybe even trigger a change in fashion trends that  could lead to us being able to wear what we like, whenever and wherever we like, without having to weigh up the potential  repercussions.

No, in case you're wondering, Geraden is not paying me to write this. I tried, but, sadly, 'no ceegar'. Tight git.

1. Geraden left...

Thank you, Smoov, for a very helpful and timely posting. There are over 200 articles on this blog, mostly written by myself, but a sizeable minority were penned by other contributors – including Dexter (my first collaborator), Pantyhose, Jolt, Jeremy (our most popular author), Csanad and Peter. I am sure I have left some good ones out! There were also a couple of 'insider' articles by Steve K of Activskin and Bozeman of Legwear4men.

You can 'get at' all these older entries by clicking on the months in the Archive section, by clicking on the Categories or by navigating the Calendar. You can also search the entries, though at present Search does not look in the comments that people have left. So do please go back and read (and comment on!) the older entries as well as the current ones. Well said, Smoov!

I used to list the most popular 10 entries, but I then realised that this simply perpetuated existing popular entries at the expense of newer material; so I stopped doing it. I might reinstate it as a members-only feature if anyone thinks it would be worth it.

To answer some of the questions you raised: There are plenty of hosiery forums, so there was no reason for me to create another one! My friend and favourite tights-girl, Sal, has a Forum on her site tights-excite and that is the Forum I would encourage people to support. When I started "Geraden's Blog" there were, so far as I knew, no other blogs on the theme of male tights (pantyhose) wearing. So unless anyone knows differently, Geraden is a pioneer in this field!

As for being a 'tight git' (should that be 'tights git''?) – I will quite happily start paying for contributions, just as soon as Blog City starts paying me to maintain this blog! At present I am paying them for the privilege of having premium blog status. Anyone who feels that they need to share in that transaction is of course welcome to do so! My Paypal account awaits …
