It was about time. I had been putting it off as long as possible, because time is always pressing, but I could wait no longer. I had to visit the barber's this morning.
I had just pegged my tights out on the line, and I left the rest of the washing and wandered down to the Green to the barber's shop. I was wearing knee length shorts in light khaki, white sports socks and trainers, and a pale t-shirt. Oh yes, and Activskin A610 tights in beige.
I got down there at just after 9:00am which is when he opens. There was one customer already in the chair and three waiting in the tiny waiting area. I decided that an hour's wait was on the cards, so I left and walked back home, and did some more washing.
I walked down the road later in the morning, and found that this time the barber had only one customer. I sat down to wait my turn. As I said, the waiting room is tiny, so I was less than two yards away from the customer and from the barber. Although my tights are skin-tone, they were very visible to me, and I was very conscious of wearing them.
The barber finished with his customer, who paid him and left. I sat in the chair and the barber drew the cape over me and started to cut my hair. We talked about holidays, families and all kinds of things, but not about tights. With the cape over my legs, the tights were hardly visible anyway. This is the third time I have worn tights and shorts when having my hair cut, and again, not a flicker of recognition or interest.
Tomorrow (as usual) I shall be going down to the newsagent's to buy the Sunday paper. What tights should I wear this time under my shorts? Early on a Sunday morning I tend to be more daring than at other times. Should I wear Charnos Sheer Lustre 24/7 high gloss tights? Or should I wear black opaque Activskin A869s with a matching black long-sleeved top? Or what? Decisions, decisions!
