~ Doug ~
In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

Levee Woman

posted Thursday, 21 September 2006

by Geraden

The WoMan range of tights by the German manufacturer Levee are probably the first and only range of normal (ie not dance) tights to be designed and marketed as unisex gaments. Levee are to be commended for their venture in acknowledging that men as well as women can and do wear tights for a variety of reasons.

Levee WoMan tights come in four varieties: two sheers, one (semi) opaque and one support. They are designed to fit up to 6'7", which should be long enough for most men and nearly all women.  The table summarises the features of each the four lines.

comment very stretchy, silky, durable and feel nice to wear. The fit was very good very stretchy, incredibly soft and dense tights for the denier (appearance). The fit was very good. They are fairly durable and I love wearing them. They are very matt and will cling under trousers. disappointing: they were not as long as advertised.   see article

The colour choice is between Black, Kaschmir (suiting olive and tanned skin colours) and Haut, which ought to suit English and Celtic skin types, but unfortunately comes out with just a bit too much of a pinkish tinge.

These tights come in six sizes. As a 6'4" male I have bought and reviewed the largest size in each. Two out of the four were satisfactory, and those were the sheers: 15 den Perfect Skin and 20 den Dimension

Both the 40 den Sensation and the support Dynamic Life were undersized - only marginally in the case of the Dynamic Life (though they will certainly not fit 6'7"). The 40 Den Sensation will not fit anyone over 6'0" at the most. These are the most disappointing opaques I have tried.

So are Levee WoMan what they say they are - Unisex?

Well, not really. Now it is true that I have a particular vision of unisex tights. They fit both women and men properly. Women and men are different shapes. Men have extra dangly bits at the front; women have larger hips and tend to put down fat on them. Clearly men and women need extra room in different places. Women need it at the back; men need it at the front and, what is more, centre front seams are not such a good idea where male anatomy is concerned! This is where Levee have missed a trick. If they had created these tights with not just an eye-shaped gusset, but with an extra half panel, the men could have worn the extra panel at the front (like Activskins) and women could have worn it at the back, as they usually do.

What about the Dynamic Life? They do have an extra panel, so they are unisex, right? Wrong!

Dynamic Life may have an extra panel, but they also have a reciprocated heel, which obviously has to be worn on your heel, i.e, at the back. You cannot wear the extra panel at the front without half-twisting each leg. This is quite uncomfortable - more uncomfortable than not having the panel at all!

So come on Levee, two cheers for making the WoMan range, but please, make them really unisex!

I quite like the WoMan tights, and have examples of each except 'Perfect Skin'. Surprisingly, these are the only tights where my wife has sought my opinion on whether I like them. My preference is the 'Dynamic Life'. Perhaps it's just the pair I have, but have you noticed the vertical 'transparent' seam down either side of the 'boxer' panel? At first I thought I'd laddered them, but on further inspection it's inherently part of the design. Unfortunately, Bozeman won't stock them. That leaves only MyTights as the primary UK supplier of the complete range.

Hi Jamod

I will have to check about that transparent bit at the sides of the brief in the Dynamic Life. I am pretty sure that it is not a seam, though. I would have noticed, if it was.

Personally I much prefer the Marks and Spencers support tights to the Dynamic Life - the Firm Support is probably nearest in the support factor, and like the D.L. it has a reciprocated heel. There is no extra panel, only an eye-shaped gusset. But the point is they fit me much better both in the leg and in the body.

I don't think it is correct to say that Bozeman 'wont' stock the WoMan range. I believe that he has enquired about stocking them, and Levee did not bother to reply to his enquiry. I know that he reads this blog, so maybe he will be able to confirm or correct that statement.

Hi Jamod, (and Geraden!)

It's not that I won't stock Levee, it's just they have never bothered to reply to my numerous enquiries! They obviously have bigger fish to fry!

Out of their range, though, the only ones I really like are the Dynamic Life support tights - I agree with G on the others; they are merely also-ran's. (btw, G, they only have the panel in size 5 and above; size 4 (which I take) and below do not). Plus, to be honest, there are so many other outlets selling them, I don't feel they are a priority for me at the moment - the other makes I handle are mostly exclusive to L4M in the UK - I prefer to keep it that way!

I have checked my Dynamic Life tights, and Jamod is quite correct. There are some vertical stripes at the sides of the brief. They are not ladders! The purpose is hard to guess, but they seem to separate two different patterns in the knit. Maybe it is just decoration?

Johnny

I have not got my Levee Woman tights any more - they went into the rubbish bin months ago, and I have no pictures. Apart from the Dynamic Life they are sheer to waist with flat seams. None of them has a fly. The waist is quite high. I hope this helps.

I just got my first pair of Levee Dimension (20 den) and I love them. They fit perfectly and are super soft to the touch, although I was hoping they'd be a little more sheer. I'm happy they don't have extra panel. I find pantyhose with regular small gusset more comfortable than the ones with the panel. Maybe I'm just used to it as I've been wearing regular gusset pantyhose for over 15 years. The only pantyhose with extra panel that feel comfortable to me are Gerbe. I love Gerbe but they are pricey so I only have two pairs. Dimension are so stretchy they don't need extra panel IMO. Very good product - give them a try.

These tights are simply the best I have ever worn. Amazingly soft, fantastic fit and the high lycra content means that they have a wonderful feeling of compression. The Size V fits me very well (I am 5'10"). I can't rate them highly enough.
