So what has been happening? Well, not much interesting to share with you. As usual I have been wearing tights most of the time. Not all the time: some night I am too tired to put some on for bed, and at this time of year I do not need the extra warmth! And funnily enough you do not experience the nice feelings of wearing tights when you are asleep! Sometimes I have left the tights off and just worn shorts in the early evening, but often I put a pair on later when it gets cooler.
At this time of the year it is sheers rather than opaques. Somehow I have got a name for being an opaques man, but it is really to do with the temperature. I wear with shorts except when I have to wear long trousers, like I do for work. There is another factor too. We have had mother-in-law staying with us for most of the last 3 or 4 months. I do not want to be in your face about my wearing where she is concerned, as I know she will find it hard (if not impossible) to understand and accept. Heavens, she is my wife's mother, and my regular readers will be aware of my wife's negative attitude to tights and to men wearing them. She must have got that attitude from somewhere. So for all those reasons, it has been nude sheers for me.
I have some ultra sheers that I am saving for the very hot weather: there are still some Charnos Light Fantastic and Oroblu Master 7 den left. I also have some M&S 'bare' tights to look forward to. But none of those last very long, unfortunately. Recently I have been wearing Levante Relax, M&S medium support and Silkies Ultra Shapely Perfection among others. I must review the Silkies ones soon on this site.
I wore tights and shorts to the choral society practice last week: again no notice was taken. I called at Sainsbury's on the way back, getting in just before closing time. Similarly for trips to the local supermarket, and picking up the minibus for the netball team. However I wore a tracksuit bottom to the little netball league last Saturday, partly to comply with my wife's wishes, and partly because the weather had turned cold and wet. I had tights on underneath, of course. That was the day that I got thoroughly soaked keeping the tuck shop, as the usual helper was unavailable.
Sunday I unexpectedly had the use of the car, so I drove up to my church in North Staffordshire, putting on some long trousers for the service itself. I kept them on afterwards because it was again cold and wet, though I normally prefer to drive with tights and shorts.
I wear no shoes for driving when I wear hosiery. Some people have said that is dangerous, because your feet are more likely to slip off the pedals. I do not think so – in bare feet or nylon your feet can grip the pedals better. The only time my foot has slipped off a pedal was when I was wearing rubber-soled shoes in wet conditions.
