In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

Brown opaques

Study in brown

Study in brown: picture taken yesterday at home. What do you think? Looks good, no?

No, Geraden has not taken to wearing skirts. Shock, horror! The picture is of Mrs Geraden, and no, your eyes do not deceive you, she is wearing tights!

You may recall that a week or two ago Mrs. G. bought some boots and dropped the comment that she would have to have some tights to wear with them.

I looked through my stock and found a couple of new pairs of Silkies Opaques, one in black and one in dark brown. I left them, in their packets, on my wife's dressing table. And there they stayed.

Normally Mrs. G. wears tights only when one of our children gets married. But yesterday, for no other occasion than to go out shopping, she wore a long brown spiral gored skirt, suede boots and the dark brown Silkies. I have to admit that she did grimace a bit when she was putting them on! But she kept them on for the rest of the day. I thought that when she came home and took her boots off, the tights would follow quickly, but no, she wore them until she went to bed.

Even though Silkies Opaques are not the most strokable of tights, I could hardly keep my hands off her legs all evening. But I had to, because the family were around! However I was wearing Activskin A1760s with shorts and our legs and feet did come into contact a few times!

Silkies fit me well, so I knew that the tights she was wearing would fit her well. In the lounge that evening I asked her what she thought of them. She admitted that they were all right, but they gripped your legs. I asked her whether that was a good or a bad thing. I reckon she would have answered if she had found the support uncomfortable but she didn't answer, so I reckon she was ok with it. Whatever her opinion, I think the support was probably a good thing because she does have trouble with her knees.

It remains to be seen whether my wife is now converted to wearing tights, but I am not holding my breath. However, once in 2½ years is better than nothing, especially as there are no further family weddings in sight!

Congratulations, Geraden! A nice shot. Your Wife probably gave you one of the best Christmas presents, although you received it slightly too late.

Dark brown is one of my favourite colours.

Once upon a time my wife belonged to those who found tights uncomfortable; maybe it was more an attitude than a real experience. But over the years tights have become more functional and comfortable, and people change, and my wife's attitude, too. Fortunately.

Hi Kaj

Thanks for your comment. Yes it was a good Christmas present! But today my wife was back in her usual trackie bottoms (she is a PE teacher by profession).

However the tights are now laid out with her skirt on the bed, so there is some hope that she may wear them again.

I am glad your wife has learned that hosiery can be enjoyable to wear.

Hi Geraden. :)

I love your introduction. I honestly began to wonder if you did wear skirts. I seem to recall you saying that you didn't. So, you can imagine what my poor brain was doing when trying figure it out! :D

My questions for the sake of advice to me is why didn't she answer and how do you feel about it when people don't answer you? I ask because I hate it when people don't answer me. Maybe I need to be more understanding, but I doubt it. What say you?

-- Sincerely, and with thanks, Eugene T.S. Wong

Hi Eugene

Interesting question. I asked my wife whether the feel of the brown opaques gripping her legs was a good thing or a bad thing, and she did not answer. I did not press the question, so I do not know what her answer would have been or why she did not answer the first time. But I can hazard a guess which will cover both those points.

If she had thought the slight compression on her legs was a bad thing she would have said so. That would fit with her policy of pointing out all the negative things she can about tights. So I guess that she found the sensation less unpleasant that she thought it would be. Maybe they made her legs feel better. And maybe she thought, as I do, that they made her legs look pretty good too! Admitting as much might be a different thing, though. She has not worn them again yet, but I live in hope. There are plenty more where those came from, and fortunately mine fit her well.

Hi again, Geraden.

Hmm, I'm honestly at a loss at trying to figure out whether silence is a sign of a successful interaction or not. In my own life, I don't seem to get the responses that I want, even though I try to show people gently what to do. I suspect that it isn't really my method that is causing problems. It's my overall goal, and its implications. I don't think that these people like the idea of me changing them, no matter how nicely I put it. :) Perhaps to your wife and the people that I interact with, they feel that they have lost the battle and war, and feel humiliated. Maybe I should start taking silence as a sign that the conversation is over, and that I've milked it for what it's worth. I don't want to push people too hard.

It's tough to be recognized as the go-to-person for people.

Thanks for your response.

-- Sincerely, and with thanks, Eugene T.S. Wong

Hello Geraden, Terrific site... Keep up the wonderful work. Happy and healthy New Year to all.

I have a hunch that Mrs. G. did like the brown tights.

I think the non-answer is due to not wanting to loose face. Not a hard concept to explain, but basically someone whom said "I don't like tights" all their lives is not going to admit to liking tights after one wear.

One does not gain a taste for shrimps after one taste, after having detested them all their lives. It takes time (a lot of it) for people to change.

I think you are on the right track. All the best.

Hi Me_PH

Happy New Year to you too, and thanks for your comments.

I would not go so far as to say that Mrs G liked the tights. Maybe just that she disliked them less than she thought she would. Besides which, I can assure you she had my attention all the time she was wearing them!

One thing I have learned in human relationships, and that is if you want someone to change their decision or attitude or opinion, you must always give them the chance to save face!
