British tights - I

I am glad you liked the Aristocs. These are tights that I have not tried – although Aristoc are known to be very good mid-priced tights, I steer clear of them because they have a reputation for under-sizing. I am 16cm taller than you, and similarly a bit overweight, so what fits you well could be a disaster on me.

Mrs Kaj is wrong, however. Even if you accept that male tights wearers are 'weird' (which is debateable), there are more than two 'weird' people in the world. Statistics show that as well as getting an average of 1000 page hits, my blog attracts about 175 unique readers daily.

What you omitted to mention was the reaction of the ladies to whom you offered to lend some British tights!

In general, it is much better to have tights on one's legs than stamps !

This joke aside, despite of what your wife thinks, there are more men who wear tights than just Geraden and you, I even am a blatant example of that. Some people may not realize how many of us we are, male tights wearers themselves included.

Ordinarily, Geraden and I don't recommend Aristoc for male wearers because of the size policy of this brand. Apparently, you came across an exception to this general rule. It is true that the very high percentage of Lycra of these tights is a good helper. I did the same type of exception for Pretty Polly's Italia 30 deniers : the biggest size fitted me very well, despite of the same regrettable size policy than Aristoc's. Plus they are very robust and elegant, as I still have them after 2 years and more.

Hi Kaj, you and I are the same height and like you, I find the large size in these tights fits just fine. My wife wears them too and swears that they are the most comfortable tights she has ever worn. Until recently she had not worn tights for years but has started wearing under capri trousers and skirts and after trying a few different types (with my advice and guidance!) settled on these as being the best. I think Aristoc has created a winner with these tights.

I have been wearing those Aristoc the whole day and they are still alive. I took even an ‘afternoon-after-lunch-nap with them on! I am glad not to know ambivalent reputation of that brand; now I can enjoy those 100% without any doubts.

Geraden & Pantyhose, Well the ‘word’ weird not a correct translation of that what my wife said in Swedish. I think that the right phrase is ‘crazy’; ‘Geraden and Kaj are ‘crazy’ or a ‘bit strange’. My wife was just teasing me and she said that in a positive tone. She expected a late Christmas greeting from ours son’s godparents and our good friends living in London (they are always late). All that she got was three pairs of tights!

Pantyhose, I am convinced that there are many tights wearers. And among them there might be some female wearers, too. It is a pity that we keep our nylons so hidden, but there will be a change, not a fast one but it is going on. The gender related idioms are deeply rooted in our society, clothing is one of those things. Maybe our grandchildren are luckier than we.

Roger, It is our duty to introduce our wives good aspects of life. When I met my coming wife was one of those tights haters. She is not that anymore. Tights are not on her Top 5 chart, but she can admit that they are nice, not only to please me, but just for that she found them comfortable and chic. Now I can order in peace a dozen pairs of Aristoc Ultra Soft to her :)
