It still allow in the UK to wear anything - no illegal, maybe depend on country, I was wear tights and denim mini skirt that seem to be allow in public Ive wearing many time as cops passing me without stop or ask anything
~ Doug ~
In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

Andy's story

by Andy

This interesting story was posted recently as a comment. Unfortunately, because of the way Blog City works, it does not show up in the list of recent comments. So to give it the readership it deserves, I am promoting it to a blog entry. Thanks for sharing this, Andy.

I started wearing tights when I left university, and it started purely by accident. I have always loved seeing female legs covered with tights, and wondered what it would be like to wear them myself, then one time while my live in girlfriend was out shopping I decided to try a pair on, lo and behold they were too small and I laddered them but I kept them on realising they were so comfortable to wear. I was so enjoying them I did not realize that my girlfriend had come back and she caught me in them.

Her immediate reaction was to make me take them off and get some trousers on as we were going out. Very embarrassed at this point, I was shocked to see that she took me to Marks and Spencers hosiery department, so I could look at all the colours and sizes they had. She then promptly bought me a selection in various deniers and colours but all the right size, she then took me to a chemist where I could purchase a waxing kit.

That evening she taught me how to wax my legs and how to put on tights properly, although my legs were exposed in the confines of the house my legs were always covered when out.

It was about 3 years ago when I started wearing tights outside and exposed, it all happened one day when I was wearing suntan coloured tights with lycra shorts and trainers in the confines of my own garden. My girlfriend now wife said we needed to go shopping and asked whether I needed to change or whether I was keeping my shorts on as it was so nice. I said that I would keep my shorts on and just get me my wallet and car keys which she did. We locked up and went shopping, not until we were half way round Tesco that I noticed my tights were exposed for all to see. I pointed this out to my wife who commented that she was wearing cut off jeans and black tights with trainers so whats the problem. Well I could do nothing about my tights so we carried on shopping, and no one made a comment or even stared at us, we were just 2 middle aged people shopping.

Once this initial excursion was made, it seemed easier to go out in public wearing tights. I have not got to the stage of wearing barely black or outrageous colours in public I try to keep to suntan or nude colors, although I have to say that yesterday we went out all day and I wore a pair of coffee colored with knee length shorts and trainers.

I enjoy wearing tights, they feel comfortable and make my legs look fairly respectable. But you do have to wax though, they look bad with hairy legs. I tend to buy from the USA and purchase the Just My SIze Pantyhose, they have a sewn in cotton gusset which means that you can do without panties underneath. Although they are for women they are extremely comfortable to wear, they also do various toe types, so if you want to wear sandals then you not need to have a re-inforced toe.

From my experience, the only people who notice you wearing tights are people who wear them themselves as you tend to look to see if there is anyone else wearing them. A very close friend of mine, apparently was a closet tights wearer until last weekend when we held a dinner party, it was a relaxed affair so I decided to wear my tights with cutoff jeans and sandals. It was almost 3 hours before he had the courage to point out I was wearing tights, I think the drink had lowered his tact at this point. So today Sunday 6th July he is having his first outing in public. He has chosen suntan to wear with knee length shorts, he will be accompanied by his wife, and myself and my wife. We are visiting Lands End, should be a lot of people today, but myself and wife have decided that we will be matching today with cut off jeans, trainers and barely black colored tights especially having worn the coffee coloured yesterday.

Just to point out one thing I am 46 years old and well built so tights are not just for the young and slim.

You should try this site in the US. http://www.welovecolors.com/Shop/MensTights.htm They ship internatinally for a flat rate, I didn't see a currency converter, you might have to email them about that. And they really are great

That's how i kinda got an interest of wearing them, is seeing girls wearing them in a fascination, kinda made me curious and i tried them on, the feeling of them shocked me. My first thought was kinda thinking that women were stingy, because they had this nice, comfortable clothing and to make it seem like we are forbidden to wear them aswell. haha but yah, it was a good experience, and i think my story will probably start as Andy's because i told my girlfriend i liked the comfort of them also and she at first was confused why i liked them, but my excuse at first was " they're comfortable to sleep in" then one day i wore them when she came over once, they were under my pair of jeans then i kinda told her in a bashful way that i was wearing them and her response, she basically told me not to be bashful if i like them then to tell her" I like to wear tights!" so, kinda gave me a sign she would still love me either way, tightless or not haha. I was still a bit scared that i was the only of few men that wore them, but once i found this blog page, i feel alot more relieved that I'm a few out of alot of men that wear them..thanks for this page.

I enjoyed reading al the comments posted to my story, thank you. I hold a fairly high powered job and tend to be fairly stressed all day long, wearing of tights or pantyhose helps me keep that stress under control as I feel comfortable and in a way daring. I do wear tights and pantyhose under my suit, but I always refuse to wear socks. Had I have not had the support of my wife then things may have been totally different, but all I can say is that I like my self and I hold my head up high when I wear them with shorts and go out in public.

I was out in milan on thursday on a business trip, and in the afternoon I went for a walk wearing barely black pantyhose tailored shorts and nice shoes, while I was passing the Armani shop I decided to pop in and was greeted by the manager there. He noticed the pantyhose and commented how good they looked, and decided to show me a business suit. It was a dark grey suit with heavy pin stripe but the trousers had been replaced with a knee length matching skirt. I did try it on and with the correct shoes did look absolutely brilliant, but I guess it will be a long time before a man will be accepted wearing a skirt to a business meeting. But I have to say the board meeting I went to had 3 guys wearing a business suit based around a skirt, and one was even wearing pantyhose with his. So I have to guess we are not alone. Andy

Andy, thanks for coming back with more of your positive experiences! Your wife's support is so important.

It seems that things are more advanced in Italy than here in the UK. (Or maybe I don't move in the right circles.)

Andy, thanks for your post and your comment - it's really reassuring to know that there are other guys out there who have had the same experiences.

I've been wearing opaques for about ages - I guess I'd admired them on women and they always caught my attention. It was quite a step to actiually try on a pair myself, but I'd been thinking about it for a while and when I moved to a new city (I was going to Uni), I plucked up the courage and put a pair of large 70 denier into my shopping basket at the supermarket. That was probably one of the exciting, yet scary, things I had done. It was a crazy feeling - embarrasment mixed with anticipation. I was so sure the checkout guy would say something (and he did give me a funny look!), but I was kind of amazed at how easily the whole thing happened. Silly, right? Anyway, once I got home and tried them on I was pretty taken aback by my response - they felt even better than I had imagined!

It was around this time that I'd seen an article about the Wolford mens tights, and I decided to go and buy some of those. After all, they were for men, so why shouldn't I? To be honest, in retrospect they weren't all that great (very expensive, and not so comfortable as my other pair). Because they were for men, I decided I'd wear them when my partner at the time came round and test the water! I had no idea what response I was going to get, so I just hoped for the best. Despite initial comments of them being "a bit weird", he actually eneded up quite liking me wearing them (I think!), asking me "do you still wear those" and dropping other hints. We broke up a while ago, but the last time I saw him, he managed to put his hand up my jeans leg to check what I was wearing underneth - it was a pair of Gerbe opaques! "Nice tights," he said. So, I guess he didn't mind me in tights at all :)

Now I'm single I've had the time, and some fun, investigating different brands and types of tights. When the Gerbe mens range launched, I immediately bought a pair of the opaques and loved them. I've also tried Wolford (womens, as the mens ones are no longer available) and they feel fantastic. I still feel proud of myself for walking into Wolford and asking for a pair of grey opaques in large: "they should fit me, shouldn't they?"!

I'd always though sheer tights (pantyhose) were a bit too feminine and I'd steered clear of them. I was sure I'd be pegged as drag queen, or something! When the Gerbe ones launched I couldn't resiist and bought a pair - I told myself, "they're for men, why shouldn't you try them?" I got the 20 denier "voile" ones, and I was kind of shocked at how good they felt. I'm not totally comforatable wearing them out (even under trousers), but I'm getting there. I think it's a really tough look to pull off and not come across as a crossdresser (not that there is anything wrong with that, I just want to wear tights though) - I guess that's what I'm worried about!

Andy, did a guy really wear them to a meeting with a skirt suit?! He's brave! Sounds like Italians are a lot more forward thinking. I wear different coloured opaques under cut-off jeans or long shorts and have had lots of favourable responses. Not sure I could wear sheers under a skirt suit (?!), but under a normal suit, it's one of my favourite looks. I know what you mean about stress - there's nothing better than picking out a freshly ironed shirt and tie, trousers and some smart but trendy shoes, then instead of Calvins and socks, deciding on something a little different! It does feel daring, and it feels good. Honestly, I think a lot of guys are missing out!

Hi Ainsley. It was never very easy for me to wear tights in the big wide world for the first time, even now I do prefer that my wife is with me when wearing my tights exposed for all to see. Yes it plainly obvious that Italy is more advanced than ourselves, I have to admit that the guy wearing the business suit with skirt, did look very cool, and even with the tights he looked very professional and stately. One thing to comment on though he did have the physique to carry the style very well, and in no way was there any inference of feminism.

As regards whether to go for shear or not has to be down to choice I am afraid. I do like shear tights and the just my size range offers me the feel and look I like. There is one thing to be said for shears, if you pick the right color then people have to look a lot harder to see you wearing them, if you have shorts on.

I just wish we did not have to feel guilty because we go out wearing tights, I do not see it written on the packet that they are for women only.

I wear tights out a lot. I think, though, that guys should wear more manly tights,, so I dont wear hose or pantyhose of the colors women tend to wear. I wear lycra, black usually, the same fabric men use for sports. I usually wear a lycra unitard. Never do I wear pants or shorts over them, but might wear a shirt or a belt or both with it. I am kind-of sexy looking to begin with so I do tend to look more sexy than sporty I guess, but its all about the legs. People dont seem to care unless they got the hots for it or for me. The "package" is an important thing to keep iin mind, and that most ppl dont want to see yours, so be modest there and save it for people that care.
