In the US it's illegal to be dressed indecently, but not illegal to crossdress. Also, where would you draw the line? Some people might claim that all the boys wearing girls skinny jeans are crossdressing.
~ Rod ~
is it legal to crossdress when outside as a female
~ Andy M ~
epilators have been suggested. I've just bought a Braun and done my first epilate session. So far so good, but still a long way from hair free legs (which are essential for any tights wearing!!!)
~ Adrian ~
With winter on the way I shall be cutting down on heating bills by wearing opaque tights with a wool kilt.

@badleg: Try Elbeo Sheer Magic or Elbeo Caresse. Size XL is available. They really do help...

Ordered some tights from Emilio Cavallini, they're great! Good stretch, warm, opaque. Good replacement for my regular sock-wearing.

America Calling

posted Thursday, 11 January 2007
Geradenby Geraden

I don't think I ever told you about the time (it was last year now) that I had a call on my mobile. Nothing unusual in that, except that the number was an international one. I recognised the +1 prefix as coming from the USA. I said hello, and a female voice with a transatlantic accent asked if she could speak to Mrs. B. I was a bit surprised, as my wife does not usually get calls on my mobile, and without thinking or asking who it was, I handed the mobile over to her. My wife said hello into it. Then, looking in my direction she said, "It is Silkies tights." Addressing the phone again, she added, "You want to speak to my husband; he buys the tights in this house."

She said this in front of her mother who was then staying with us. So far as I know, mum in law did not know about my interest in tights. I suppose she does now, though she said nothing. I had been wearing nude sheers and shorts around the house, but I reckoned that she would not notice. In any case at 80+ her sight is not as perfect as it used to be.

So my wife handed the phone back to me, and I left the room where they were, so that I could take the call with some privacy. The woman on the other end seemed a little fazed by the turn of events and stumbled over her script several times, though she recovered each time. She explained to me who Silkies were, and I told her that I knew already, having dealt with their UK branch for many years. She asked if I was satisfied with their products and I said yes. She explained that Silkies were offering some higher grade compression tights and knee highs on an introductory offer. These had twice the compression of ordinary support hosiery, and were not available on the Silkies website yet. I could have two pairs of tights for around £16.00. I thanked her and said that I was ok for tights at the moment! Which happens to be true, because I must have more than 60 unopened packets.

I wanted to ask the caller if she was uncomfortable talking to a man about tights, but I thought that might upset her. I wondered what percentage of Silkies customers were men - other online hosiery suppliers have reported very high percentages. However these companies post their orders in plain packages, whereas Silkies packaging advertises the contents in a very noticeable way. It is not so much that the packaging advertises that it is hosiery, but that it reinforces a wholly female-orientated marketing strategy.

The caller finished by giving me the address of the Silkies website. (I missed a trick by not giving her the address of this site or my own website!)

Since then my mother in law seems to have forgotten about the tights - at least they have never been a subject for discussion between us. I am sure that she (like her daughter) would disapprove, though!

That's just unbelievable. I'm very happy for you. I'm jealous, but I am happy. I'd be surprised if Enchantress ever called me. I have tried a couple of pairs and I love them a lot. In fact, I hardly ever wear them because I want to save them for special occasions.

Thanks for sharing such a fascinating story.

-- Sincerely, and with thanks, Eugene T.S. Wong

Hi Eugene

I wondered for a moment what you were talking about, then I remembered that Silkies (US and UK name) is known as Enchantress in Canada! I mention this in case other readers are unaware.

Oh, I see. I typed some stuff in brackets, but the system didn't allow it. When I previewed, I thought that I saw my explanations in brackets. Brackets are those square shape things. Braces are those curly shaped things. Parentheses are the most commonly used things. I guess the moral here is to not used brackets.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, thanks for explaining things clearly on my behalf. You said what I meant to say.

Hi again Eugene

I understand now what has happened.

Comments on Blog-City use a version of wiki markup, which a wiki decoder converts to HTML. (See the link 'help on wiki format' above the comment box.) In wiki, square brackets indicate a hyperlink. If there is no valid hyperlink, nothing is converted to HTML, so nothing gets displayed.

Had I realised this before, I would have used the admin console to edit out the square brackets, but there is no point now!

In any case this information may be of use to others. You can use braces or parentheses but not square brackets!

Sorry about the confusion!

Geraden

Hi again.

No sorries necessary. It was a case of me not reading until too late. I thought that I wouldn't need to read the help because I "definitely" know what I'm doing. Whoops! I guess not. :)

It may have been Canada calling, because the +1 is the same for both the U.S. and Canada. I could have probably told you which accent was which if I'd heard the lady's voice!

Hi Cedric

Good point, but I do not think it was Canada. I can't claim to be able to distingiush the accents - but if it had been Canada, I think the product would have been identified as Enchantress rather than Silkies, as discussed earlier. - G

Hello friends, I get my pantyhose from Comfilon but I use more and more Silkies and have a new shipment each month sent to me and the prise of Silkies is just right for me too. I love the way my legs look with pantyhose after shaving.
